The cold mornings are setting in now that we are firmly amidst Autumn. This not only produces wonderful colours on the trees but a bit of morning dew or frost highlights the sea of spider webs that cover the vegetated landscape that otherwise would be near invisible to the naked eye.
Alongside the spiders paradise the cold mornings can also produce early morning mist. No matter how many times you visit Loch an Eilein it always provides a different perspective to the eye. The cold mornings produce an almost Brigadoon mist over the loch that provides a mysteriousness to the area. What lurks behind this mist? Well the truth is in the background you should see Loch an Eilein Castle sitting on a small island. A very fitting feature as the translation of Loch an Eilein is island on the loch! |

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) will be carrying out essential maintenance work on overhead electrical lines during November. Fishing will be available as normal but we do apologise in advance for any disturbance caused by their work during this time. If you have any questions please email info@rothie.net.
We are now on our winter opening hours (9.30am – dusk). The fishery is staffed at weekends but not staffed permanently Monday to Friday but someone will be round to provide fishing permits at regular intervals throughout the day. If you require equipment please phone our visitor Centre on 01479 812345 and someone will be happy to assist. The fishery will only be closed in the event of adverse weather causing the lochs to freeze over. |
